Avebury

Avebury is a sleepy English village nestled in the rolling countryside of Wiltshire. It is most well-known for its ancient stone circle, which is the largest in the world, and was established @ 4,500 years ago. It is a place of wonder for those who love history and the outdoors.

The stone circle at Avebury is an awe-inspiring sight. There are 100 standing stones that make up the circle, as well as two smaller stone circles nearby. The site was originally established in the Neolithic period, but was expanded and reworked over the centuries. The site is free to visit and open year-round.

But there’s more to Avebury than just the stone circle. The village is surrounded by natural and manmade wonders, including the West Kennet Long Barrow, a prehistoric burial chamber, and the Silbury Hill, the largest manmade mound in Europe. There are also several walking trails that meander through the countryside.

Avebury is a must-visit destination for those who want to experience a unique piece of ancient history while enjoying the tranquil setting of an English village.
